Joe Ruocco - Night Hunters

The fall of darkness on the Reef brings out hunters large and small. These scenes were captured on a series of night dives in the Caribbean. From some of the smallest like Banded Shrimp and Arrow crabs to some of the larger like Octopus and Stingrays, hunting and feeding activity accelerates at night. Prey availability also increases at night as blood worms, fry, silversides and jellies fill the water column. Our lights attract many of these creatures, even Tarpon making for some very interesting video. At times divers are literally bombarded by all the small creatures in the water column.
